‘Trash’, ‘Low quality’ - Arsenal fans on Twitter urge club to sell 27-year-old this summer

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been urging their club to sell England striker, Danny Welbeck. The 27-year-old has come in for criticism as of late as he’s failed to live up to the standards set at the club by his rival forward’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Welbeck started yesterday as the club beat Stoke 3-0 but failed to impress the fans who have called for his sale.

Welbeck faces an uphill batter this summer as he’s looking unlikely to travel to the World Cup with England and very likely to be leaving Arsenal. On the international front, Harry Kane’s return to fitness could force the ex-Man United striker off the plane to Russia whilst at club level, Laca and Auba’s arrival at the Emirates mean it’s hard to see a place for the 27-year-old in Wenger’s starting line-up.

It’s currently Welbeck’s fourth season in London after swapping Old Trafford for The Emirates although it’s hard to see him continuing his career in North London given his failure to take chances he’s been given in the first team. Gabonese international, Aubameyang is currently cup-tied in the Europa League meaning Welbeck started both legs against AC Milan, but now Lacazette has returned from injury it’s hard to find a place for the lack-lustre striker. Arsenal host CSKA Moscow on Thursday in the Europa League and it will be a shock if the 27-year-old finds himself starting in one of the club’s biggest games of the season
