The Chelsea fans by the jukebox have been singing the praises of Antonio Conte’s latest signings, Timeoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata.

The Champions have bolstered their squad with four new players this summer as Conte looks to take the Champions League by storm, though their squad remains a little thin.

With Morata the latest to be welcomed to the Bridge, the club immediately opened the door for Nemanja Matic to move on, who joined Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

It’s uncertain if Conte has his eyes on anyone else, but Chelsea could do with reinforcements at wing-back and in attack, if they are to challenge on all fronts next term.

Much has been made about the transfer frustration in SW6 this summer, though it could be worse.

It remains to be seen whether any of the new additions will be a success at Stamford Bridge. But surely they’ll perform better than these FOUR truly awful signings…

GAEL KAKUTA

Kakuta joined Chelsea in 2007 but failed to live up to expectations after leaving the club with just 12 first-team appearances to his name.

The Congolese winger was built as the man for Chelsea’s future after his emergence in 2009. However, after multiple unimpressive loan moves, Chelsea dumped the flop.

The 26-year-old left Deportivo La Coruna in January and has recently signed for Ligue 1 side Almens.

FERNANDO TORRES

Whichever way you look at it, Torres simply failed to meet any Chelsea fan’s expectations. The Spaniard who was sublime for Liverpool left the Reds on deadline day in January 2011 for a club record £50m.

He failed to score in any of his first 12 games and ultimately left the Bridge on just 20 goals in 110 Premier League appearances.

RADEMEL FALCAO

After failing at Manchester United, the Colombian looked to rebuild his reputation with the Blues, but the once prolific striker fired blanks yet again.

Despite only coming in on loan, Falcao still cost the Blues plenty in wages.

Perhaps the most jarring things about it is just how good El Tigre has been for Monaco since.

MARKO MARIN

Dubbed the “German Messi“, Marko Marin arrived at the Bridge with a promising reputation.

Having signed to the London club from Werder Bremen for around £7m in the summer of 2012, Marin made just 16 appearances in all competitions for the Blues.

After several loan moves, he left Chelsea for Olympiakos in 2016.
