The Hammers fans in the Transfer Tavern are making a list of their worst signings of recent memory, and it’s quite a long one.

West Ham are a club that have been quite stale for quite some time now and a part of that can be down to the transfers they have made.

Since 2007 they have been a mid-table side flirting with relegation at times and in 2011, did get relegated.

They won the play-offs a year later and apart from a stellar 2015/16 season, have stayed a mid-table Premier League side.

Much like any other club, the Hammers have had their fair share of questionable transfers in recent memory, remember Tevez and Mascherano?

But that was in 2006 and our landlord is looking at transfers in the last ten years.

With that being said, here are West Ham’s four worst signings since 2007….

Kieron Dyer

Kieron Dyer’s West Ham career was blighted by injury in the four years he spent at Upton Park.

Just ten days after his debut he suffered a broken leg in two places and missed the rest of his debut season.

After never really recovering from his injury, Dyer was released in 2011 after only making 34 appearances on an £83,000 a week deal as a Hammer.

Savio Nsereko

Signing in January of 2009, Savio Nsereko made just 11 appearances during his time at West Ham.

He failed to score a single goal but did manage two assists but it wasn’t nearly enough to keep him around.

He was shipped out to Fiorentina mere months after he signed for the Hammers.

A former Champions League winner with Porto in 2004, Benni McCarthy never worked out at Upton Park.

Signing on deadline day of the 2010 January transfer window, McCarthy was side lined for six weeks after getting injured on his debut.

After a bad year, in 2011 he was left out of the 25-man squad for the remainder of the season and had his contract terminated.

He scored no goals in 14 appearances for West Ham.

Alan Curbishley signed Nigel Quashie to try and get some experience in his midfield.

Unfortunately, all he got was a player who made eight appearances for West Ham and suffered persistent injuries during his time there.

Three years after he signed, West Ham released Quashie after a terrible run.
