The Arsenal in the Transfer Tavern are feeling positive about their side’s future aspirations following a productive January transfer window.
Arsene Wenger finally completed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on transfer deadline day and allowed Olivier Giroud to leave the club for Chelsea to round off an active month of business for The Gunners. In addition to Borussia Dortmund’s top-goalscorer this season, Wenger also added the relatively unknown Greek centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, and Henrik Mkhitaryan to his ranks. The latter of course arrived from Manchester United in a swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move in the opposite direction.
The Gunners faithful were naturally disappointed to say goodbye to Sanchez who was arguably the shining light at that club throughout his three and a half year spell in North-London, but they were relieved that the club managed to offload him this month before he became a free agent in the summer.
Sanchez made his Premier League debut for the Red Devils last night in a huge clash in the context of the race for the top-four away at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Arsenal supporters were interested spectators in the match for a variety of reasons, and not least because of Sanchez’s involvement. The Chile international was nullified by the resolute Spurs defence during a tough evening for Jose Mourinho’s side, much to the delight of the Arsenal fans on Twitter.
Although Sanchez was something of a fan-favourite at Arsenal, it’s fair to say that he’s rapidly lost his popularity at the club since his January departure judging by the reaction on Twitter to his performance last night.
Here’s what the Arsenal fans had to say about Sanchez’s Premier League debut on Twitter…
As for you mate @Alexis_Sanchez… sorry, but no you can’t come back. We’ve got a better striker now on half the money. pic.twitter.com/x7d4I0xT4D

FT 2-0 #thfc Deserved win for Spurs, who were excellent from the start here. #mufc got worse as it wore on. Margin of victory should have been wider. Early days for Sanchez but he resembled the peripheral, possession-wasting player #afc had by the end.
