Jermain Defoe is a man that simply refuses to go away.
Despite Tottenham having gone above and beyond the call (by their standards anyway) to secure the services of Emmanuel Adebayor, Defoe is doing a good impression of a man who wants to make himself simply indispensable to new manager Villas-Boas.
Villas-Boas has been hounded by pundits and the press claiming he had three games to save his job but there was a quality to Spurs against Reading that reflected an understanding between players and a coach.
AVB’s team already appear to be grasping what’s required and despite nicking a goal, Reading were outclassed.
“Yeah, extremely happy, also because the players put tremendous commitment into the game, responsibilty and concentration.
They understood that we’ve been working so hard and they deserve to get this first win. The way we came into the game they had that focus, wanting to put things in their place. It’s very pleasing to see. We managed to mix the result with a performance and in the end we come out of Reading very, very satisfied.”
