Roberto Mancini admitted that Hart’s saves spared his side’s blushes and praised Dortmund.
“I think that Joe saved us. He did very, very well,” the Italian told Sky Sports.
“Today we deserved to concede three or four goals. We didn’t play well. We didn’t play well because Borussia Dortmund played better than us.
“They probably at this moment are a better team than us. If we want to play in the Champions League we have to play better than tonight.
“We have to run and fight. It’s not enough to just pass. The Champions League is another situation – different from the championship. We have to run and fight. It’s not enough to just have quality,”

Clichy has stated that Tevez is a crucial player for Roberto Mancini’s men.
“He has been our best player so far this season,” the France international told The Sun.
“He’s scored goals, worked really hard. He’s just a great player.
“What happened in Munich, and after, is nothing to do with me. It was between him and the boss.
“It’s all sorted now. Carlos in top form would be a great player for any team. Let’s hope he can carry on scoring.
“The passion he has for the game, the way he presses defenders, lifts the team — we need a player like this so well done Carlos.
“We want players who bring something extra and he does that. He can make a big difference for us this season.”
Joe Hart was quoted in The Telegraph, “Look at my team-mates. You couldn’t have a table big enough to fit all their medals on, so I’m pretty sure it won’t affect them. But we are in with the big boys now and there is no place to hide,”
