Reds fans here in the Tavern are looking for their side to improve even further with more than one issue becoming their downfall this season. 

There’s no hiding that the Reds were in desperate need of a world-class central-defender heading into the January transfer window, with Dejan Lovren often providing some less than convincing performances.

So with Liverpool being fond of taking players off their so-called ‘feeder club’ Southampton, they may look to do this again, after signing Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Sadio Mane and Dejan Lovren from them in the past.

In fact, that’s exactly what they did, as according to reports Virgil Van Dijk has agreed to join Liverpool in January for a whopping price of £75 million.

Someone that Jurgen Klopp tried to sign back in the summer months but failed to do so, with some disagreements between the two clubs causing for Liverpool to be accused of making an alleged illegal approach for the Dutchman.

Nevertheless, with Liverpool fans in dreamland after landing the centre-back they’ve been craving over the past year. Here’s a look at THREE players FSG should hand Klopp in order to get the best out of their new signing.

Daley Blind

The 27-year-old Dutch international was brought to Manchester United as a central-defensive-midfielder, but has since developed a versatile approach to his game to be utilized either at left-back or centre-back.

A player that’s struggled to get a run in the Manchester United line-up this season after only making 6+ Premier League appearances for the side.

But there’s no doubt that he has an incredible footballing ability after displaying performances of the highest-level both for club and country, as one of the most reliable performers in the Premier League.

Bringing Daley Blind to Anfield will not only stimulate more competition for Virgil Van Dijk, but will also provide him with a well known face from their partnership in the Dutch national team. Along with providing Liverpool with another quality defender, of course.

Michel Vorm

The 34-year-old Tottenham goalkeeper has taken up the role of a back-up keeper over the past couple of seasons with Spurs, after becoming one of the Premier League’s best shot-stoppers during his time at Swansea City.

Understandably, with Hugo Lloris being one of the best goalkeepers in world football it’s hard to see how the Dutchman could relieve him of his duties.

However, after making a minor 3+ appearances for the side this season he’s still managed to produce a couple of clean sheets in this time, a quite impressive stat considering the lack of game-time.

Therefore, with Liverpool in desperate need of a proven Premier League goalkeeper, he may be the man to bring them forward. Along with allowing Van Dijk to feel at ease in the heart of defence after playing in front of him for his country for some time now.

Ryan Bertrand

Another one of Southampton’s incredible breed of defenders who just keeps on grinding out performances of the highest order, that’s even rewarded him with England call-ups.

Ryan Bertrand has been as influential as Virgil Van Dijk has been for the Saints over the years, as he continues to provide solidity that’s even got Manchester City interested in the defender according to reports.

Indeed, having featured in 18+ Premier League games this season he’s been crucial in also providing goals for the side, with 3+ assists being gifted to the defender for his efforts.

Of course, with Alberto Moreno and Andy Robertson lacking the quality that a ‘typical’ Liverpool left-back should possess. Arguably the best left-back in the Premier League would resolve those problems and would be reunited with former teammate Van Dijk.
