Watford receive significant boost ahead of festive period

The Watford fans here in the Transfer Tavern are very happy with the latest news from Clubcall that Roberto Pereyra will now only miss one game through suspension after being sent off last weekend.

The midfielder received his marching orders against West Brom in the second half of the Hornets’ 3-1 defeat but will only miss this weekend’s game against Everton at Vicarage Road, before being eligible for selection again.

Watford had their initial appeal over the decision rejected by the FA for wrongful dismissal but the Independent Regulatory Commission saw it differently and have now reduced the length of the ban.

It’ll come as welcome news, too, to Walter Mazzarri who is preparing for his first taste of the hectic Christmas period here in this country.

The Hornets have started well this season but famously dropped off in the second half of the last campaign and so the Italian needs to ensure a repeat does not occur this time around.

Having the likes of Pereyra around, though, will boost them with him being one of their best players so far this season according to our landlord.
