Odion Ighalo could be set to swap Watford for Napoli, leaving our resident Hornets fans here in the Transfer Tavern, quite frankly, shocked.
Ighalo’s agent has been speaking to Radio Marte (via the Watford Observer) with regards to potential interest in the the striker from Serie A side Napoli.
The Nigerian international was one of the stars of their side last season as they stayed up in the Premier League after returning from the Championship, but this year he has struggled.
Captain and strike partner Troy Deeney has managed to continue in the same manner as last season but Ighalo has not and it’s rumoured that Serie A side Napoli could sign him.
The Naples club signed Arkadiusz Milik in the summer, after Gonzalo Higuain left for Juventus, as their main striker but he has suffered injury problems so the Watford man could be seen as another option.
The striker was dropped for the away win at Middlesbrough before returning to the side for the 0-0 against Swansea and our local Watford punters can’t quite believe Napoli would be interested: “I thought April Fools wasn’t for another few months! Ighalo’s a decent player but he’s not been good enough for us so I can’t really see why Napoli would be interested, I’m sure glad they are though!”
