The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been waiting for a long time in the hope of hearing the news that Jack Wilshere has signed a contract extension. So far though, there isn’t much to suggest Wilshere will be getting the pen out to sign a new deal with the club. Wilshere has been at the club for his whole career, although his current deal expires this summer, making him a free agent in a matter of months. You can hear more of Wenger’s comments on the Arsenal website.
Here’s the boss on @JackWilshere‘s contract…
“I cannot give you any news… I can just update you by saying he has not signed. He has an offer, we want him to stay and I hope at some stage he will sign it.”

Arsene Wenger will do well to find a player more committed to the club than Jack Wilshere. The 26-year-old has been with the club his whole career since being promoted to the senior squad for the 2008/09 season, despite two separate loan spells with Bolton and Bournemouth. Now though, it could be time for Wilshere to start looking for a new club. In just a few months time, if he can’t come to an agreement with the club over a new deal, he’ll be without a club and subject to contract offers from other teams.
Wilshere has got his career back-on-track somewhat this season, he’s remained relatively injury free, despite suffering a slight niggle that saw him pull out of the England squad last month. The central midfielder has played 35 games in all competitions for Arsenal’s seniors this season, as well as pitching in with two appearances in the U23 development squad. Our local Gunners will be begging the club to put the contract negotiations to bed as they hope to see Wilshere dominating in the middle of the park at The Emirates for years to come.

This is the most ridiculous situation. If you want someone to stay you make sure they do. No wonder he’s considering leaving..
