Though the Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern were fairly happy to see the club active in the January market, life isn’t all too good amongst the Blues in our bar. Indeed, having been smashed at home to Bournemouth, our west London locals don’t believe the Premier League champions to be in good shape.
With Antonio Conte’s position in charge of the club reportedly under watch by those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge as pressure mounts, it seems everyone is making the same joke. Indeed, with the west London giants only ever a couple of bad games away from a crisis, jokes that Guus Hiddink could return for a third temporary stint in charge are being made left, right and centre.
The Dutchman, who has picked up the mess left behind by the likes of Luiz Felipe Scolari and Jose Mourinho in years gone by, is again out of work and, should the campaign continue to get much worse, perhaps bringing him back for the third time wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Especially considering the imminent Champions League clash with Barcelona later this month.
So, having said that, here’s a closer look at the talk on Twitter.
