The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have found their club putting a smile on their faces. That’s because their U17 side reclaimed the Glasgow Cup off of their Old Firm rivals, Celtic bringing the trophy back to Ibrox for the first time since 2013 with a comfortable 3-0 win over the young Bhoys. Rangers success in the tournament last night brought an end to four-straight defeats to Celtic in the final of the competition to Celtic.

For the Gers, the Glasgow Cup won’t be enough to save their season. The current campaign has been a disaster for all those associated with the club and given the way it’s gone so far, losing 5-0 at Parkhead as Celtic confirmed the Scottish Premier League title is never easy to take for a Rangers fan. The 5-0 loss also came exactly two weeks after they’d fallen 4-0 to Brendan Rodgers’ side at Hampden in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The very few bragging rights they had left would’ve been given a slight boost yesterday when they watched their bright young guns fire three goals past Celtic, something that the Rangers senior squad haven’t done since March 2012. Whilst the current crop of first-teamers are well below the expected standard of an Ibrox side, the fans can take respite from the fact that they’ve got a vibrant young squad that’s capable of taking points off of their oldest rivals.
