Wenger hints at surprise striker development at Arsenal

Though the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern never really got to welcome the master marquee marksman they so badly craved over the course of the summer, they’ve been happy all the same.

With Alexis Sanchez looking in fine fettle since moving into a more central area, the Gunners look far more dynamic and threatening up front as a result.

So, reports from the Daily Telegraph suggesting Arsene Wenger could once again force the Chilean wide have come as a shock to our north London locals.

Despite his good form when acting as the main man, the return of the ever-divisive Olivier Giroud looks to have prompted Le Prof to hint that the ex-Barcelona man could revert to his more natural wider berth.

While Giroud has proved to be an effective outlet at times, his rather languid style of play and penchant for missing big chances hasn’t always made him the most popular amongst the Emirates faithful.

So, the idea of moving one of their most lethal stars has come as somewhat of a surprise.

“I have to move Alexis out as I always have that problem with [Mesut] Özil being behind the striker”, said the 67-year-old.

”He cannot move much deeper as, much deeper, you need defensively to work. So one will have to move wide. And if you move one of them wide, it can only be Alexis.”

Should Sanchez really be forced wide? Let us know below…
