The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were absolutely delighted yesterday following the news that they have agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the acquisition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Dortmund’s top-goalscorer from the Bundesliga giants in a deal worth £60 million, however, the transfer will only go ahead if they are able to secure a replacement by 5pm tomorrow evening. The same report claims that Michy Batshuayi is one of Dortmund’s potential transfer targets being lined up to replace the Gabon international.
If Batshuayi does indeed move to Dortmund from Chelsea, his transfer could pave the way for Olivier Giroud to join The Blues from Arsenal before the end of the month.
The majority of Arsenal fans would be bitterly disappointed to lose Giroud to one of their closest rivals both geographically and competitively speaking, but a handful of supporters are of the opinion that another swap deal could be in their best interests.
Plenty of the supporters believe that if Arsene Wenger is going to allow Giroud to leave the club for Stamford Bridge this month, then he must ensure they receive Chelsea’s volatile Brazilian defender David Luiz as part of the deal.
Luiz’s public feud with Antonio Conte and various problems with injuries have forced him to spend the majority of the season on the sideline so far, but that has not stopped the Arsenal supporters from expressing an interest in landing the controversial star.
