Wenger must consider dropping 1 of these 2 players against Bayern Munich tonight

Ahead of their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich later on today, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing their chances of progressing into the next round of this most famous of competitions.

A win tonight in Germany really would change the complexion of the Gunners’ campaign and, while the odds are obviously stacked against Arsene Wenger’s side for the meeting in the Allianz Arena, Paris Saint-Germain’s demolition of Barcelona last night suggested even the European elite can be shaken.

With that in mind, perhaps Le Prof shaking his side up would be a wise avenue to explore. The Gunners have dragged along in the league of late, so making some changes and introducing more of a sense of urgency into the ranks could well unsettle a Bayern side not at their most dominant domestically.

Considering all of this, surely he must consider dropping 1 of these 2 players.

Mesut Ozil

Perhaps it sounds ridiculous, considering the lavish praise poured over him only a months ago, though Mesut Ozil has been far from his best recently. Having replaced his assists with goals earlier on in the campaign, even the latter have dried up for the World Cup winner.

Over the course of his career, he’s barely ever had an awful lot of success in games against the Bundesliga giants when it matters most and his stalling performances recently could well see him axed.

Alex Iwobi

Another attacker who may have seemed indispensable to the Gunners’ cause earlier this season, the return of Danny Welbeck offers up an interesting headache for Wenger. The England international boasts a decent amount of experience at this high level and could well offer a more direct approach to get at a Bayern defence missing the influential Jerome Boateng.
