Wenger to miss out? – Arsenal made to sweat on £35m talent, his preference is Euro giants

Arsenal fans at The Transfer Tavern are still coming to terms with the prospect of another two years under the guidance of Arsene Wenger. Some are happy to share a drink with him, others are ready to have him barred. What they can all agree on though is that they need some summer signings.

Wenger has a tricky transfer window ahead as he tries to leverage the Gunners’ spending power and compete with some of the top clubs in the world for talent.

One man the Frenchman is said to hold a keen interest in is Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, who looks set to leave Leicester City after handing in a transfer request last month.

Spanish publication Sport reckon that the attacking midfielder has already received an offer for Arsenal but Wenger may be set to lose out on the Algerian international.

Sport also report that Mahrez is willing to play the waiting game in order to join the club of his dreams – Barcelona.

That means Arsenal have been left sweating on a key acquisition, something they’ll not be keen to see drag on all summer.

With a reported value of £35m, there’s a lot on the line surrounding Mahrez and all parties will be hoping he comes to a final decision on his future sooner rather than later.

Arsenal fans, what do you think? Are you willing to wait on Mahrez or would you rather see a bit more commitment shown from big money signings?
