West Brom simply cannot allow Championship rivals secure their ideal striker signing

According to the Liverpool Echo, Norwich City and Sheffield United have enquired as to the availability of Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp appears keen to provide Woodburn with an opportunity to impress, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the 18-year-old were to be allowed to go on loan this season to secure regular game time at senior level.

Any loan move involving Woodburn would likely see him make a switch to Championship level, to try and ensure he gets as much time on the pitch as possible.

The Breakdown

Despite his tender years, Woodburn has already shown the world glimpses of his talent – his incredible goal against Leeds in 2016/17 stands out – and he undoubtedly has the capacity to make an impact in the second tier.

Woodburn would likely get plenty of game time with either the Blades or the Canaries, but it’s in fact West Brom who are most in need of his services.

Darren Moore is currently overseeing a fairly comprehensive squad overhaul at the Hawthorns following the club’s disastrous relegation from the Premier League last season.

The Baggies have already lost, or forced out, some big names, and others look set to continue the exodus. Nacer Chadli, for instance, has impressed at the World Cup in Russia and will attract the interest of some top flight clubs around Europe. Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon are also being regularly linked with moves away.

West Brom could well end up with a dearth of attacking options in their squad, giving someone like Woodburn the window of opportunity to impress.

A young, hungry and exciting attacking talent is exactly what the Baggies need right now, and it’d really lift the fans.

Moore also needs to bring in numbers, and getting a man through the door on a comparatively low cost loan deal would be a good bit of low risk business for him.
