West Brom are reportedly interested in signing former Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou, following his exit from the club last week.

The Lowdown: Diedhiou leaves Bristol City

The 28-year-old enjoyed a good season in 2020/21, scoring eight Championship goals for City and helping them to a 19th-place finish as they steered clear of relegation.

Diedhiou's contract expired on July 1st, however, and with a new deal not agreed, he is now a free agent and on the lookout for a new club.

The Latest: West Brom linked with move

According to The Bristol Post [via Give Me Sport], the striker is now a target for West Brom, with Valerien Ismael potentially eyeing up a move for him.

An unnamed Turkish club are also interested in signing the Senegalese ace, so the Baggies could face competition for his signature during the summer transfer window.

The Verdict: Experienced squad addition

Diedhiou could be a good signing for West Brom, considering he scored 51 goals in 169 appearances for City, 46 of those in the second tier, as well as netting five times in 14 caps for Senegal.

The fact that he would arrive on a free transfer would make it a less risky signing, too, adding strength in depth in the attacking areas ahead of the Baggies' promotion push in 2021/22.

While he may not necessarily come in as a regular starter - he only started half of his side's league games last season - improving the depth at Ismael's disposal can only be a positive.
