West Ham fans fume over club’s Declan Rice tweet amid contract talks

Plenty of West Ham fans have been suffering over the last few weeks as they stalk their club’s Twitter hoping to catch the news that Declan Rice has signed a new contract. For now, the wait goes on but the fans were fuming when they tweeted some quotes from the youngster on their website.

Rice has shone under Manuel Pellegrini this season, adapting superbly to his role in central midfield despite the fact he’s a centre-back by trade. His versatility and mettle in the middle of the park have proved vital to The Hammers this season and they currently sit 13th in the table having only just hit form and got into gear after losing their first four matches in the Premier League.

Things have changed since then, though, and their young academy product has been key to their revival as they’ve started winning games. As a result of his form, Rice has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium, with The Daily Mail claiming that a move to either Tottenham or Chelsea could be on the cards in the upcoming January window. That would be a catastrophe for The Irons, and because of that, they’re desperate to tie the youngster down to a new deal.
