As is always the case when a player outside of the top six starts performing well, the transfer rumour mill starts turning. This time around it’s West Ham’s young defensive rock, Declan Rice. The London Stadium academy man has been linked with moves to Tottenham and Chelsea in The Daily Mail recently and The Hammers are desperate to see him pen a new deal at the club.

Whilst you might think West Ham wouldn’t sell to one of their biggest rivals in Tottenham, it is a border that has been crossed before and most of The Lilywhites would love to have a versatile young defender like Rice at the club. Meanwhile, at Chelsea the defender would be able to slip in and out of both the back four and the defensive role in Maurizio Sarri’s three-man midfield, although for now, West Ham will be eager to keep him.
The 19-year-old undoubtedly has a huge future ahead of him and whilst the on-going debate rolls on around whether he should choose England or the Republic of Ireland to represent internationally, the debate over who he should sign for is still on-going. At the London Stadium, the fans will be urging both David Sullivan and David Gold to fork out on a big contract for the youngster and ensure he’s tied down at the club, with the fear of losing him something that they don’t even want to think about at the moment.
