So far, Lucas Perez career at West Ham hasn’t been what he would have hoped for. The Spanish ex-Arsenal man has been limited to game time off the bench so far and his only two goals have come in the Carabao Cup, one against Mansfield and now one against Tottenham.

Tottenham led 2-0 last night with just over half an hour to play when Manuel Pellegrini brought on Perez. The Spaniard took just 13 minutes to half the deficit and whilst it didn’t take long for his countryman, Fernando Llorente, to restore Tottenham’s two-goal lead, the impact of Perez was well felt and the Hammers all think that he should be given more of an opportunity at the club in the Premier League.
This weekend’s game pits Pellegrini’s side up against Burnley at The London Stadium. This fixture last season finished 3-0 to the Clarets and whilst it’s unlikely that will happen again, the fans want to see Perez thrown in at the deep end and given a start. In the absence of Andriy Yarmolenko, Perez could expect to have his chances of league start improved, although there’s no doubt that Marko Arnautovic will start, Pellegrini could experiment with both of the frontmen together.
