West Ham: Fans react to Declan Rice’s comments on loss

It has not been the best return for West Ham as they lost 2-0 in their returning Premier League fixture against high-flying Wolves. Declan Rice spoke after the game and many of the Irons fan base are reacting to his comments.

The Hammers managed a low 42% possession at the London Stadium and only had two shots on target. The result would not have eased the nerves of their supporters as the club are now 17th, level on points with AFC Bournemouth in 18th, via BBC Sport.

Rice normally plays in midfield but with Angelo Ogbonna injured, he filled in at centre-back. He spoke to the club’s media team after the game, and said: “We need to lift our heads up for Tuesday. I’ve got to be a leader and I’ve got to talk so that’s what I do, I speak to the players and try to encourage them.”

Fans seemed to highlight how these comments from the 21 year-old made him sound like a proper leader, and many have called for him to be given the captain’s armband.

Here is what they said following the tweet:

Hammers fans, what are your thoughts on these comments from Rice? Let us know down below!
