Loads of West Ham fans have been left seething at the performance of Sebastien Haller in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, as the towering Frenchman wasted several good chances to put the Hammers in front.
After putting in a great performance at Anfield and beating Southampton 3-1 at the London Stadium, David Moyes’ side will have felt like Saturday’s opponents were there for the taking – the Gunners had conceded in three of their four previous home matches and looked extremely suspect defensively in their 3-2 win against Everton.
And Mikel Arteta has his lucky stars to thanks that the topic of conversation is not his shambolic defence once again, if by lucky stars you of course mean Haller and Michail Antonio. Between them, the pair squandered every decent attacking opportunity they had, and although Antonio was responsible for missing three ‘big chances’ (Sofascore), Haller is taking his fair share of stick too.
