West Ham United face a huge rebuilding job after suffering relegation from the Premier League and dropping into the Championship for the 2026/27 campaign.
The Hammers have already banked a club-record £85 million from the sale of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur, while Adama Traoré and Łukasz Fabiański have both departed.
Axel Disasi has also returned to Chelsea following the end of his loan spell, and with Jarrod Bowen’s future still uncertain, recruitment is expected to be a major priority this summer.
West Ham Interested in McNeil
According to Sky Sports’ Vinny O’Connor and Chris Reidy, West Ham are interested in signing Everton winger Dwight McNeil.
The 26-year-old, who has been described as “terrific” by Everton teammate James Tarkowski, is admired by the Hammers, although talks remain at a very early stage.
Any significant progress is unlikely until new director of player recruitment Nils Koppen has held detailed discussions with head coach Nuno Espírito Santo and the club’s recruitment staff over their transfer strategy.
McNeil also attracted interest from Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest during the winter transfer window, underlining his reputation as a proven Premier League performer.
Whether West Ham can persuade him to join a Championship side remains to be seen, but he has emerged as a player firmly on their radar ahead of the new season.
