Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern has watched as West Ham have thus far had a mixed season, with the prospect of a relegation battle to now the prospect of Europa League football. It has not been an easy ride for the Hammers faithful here at the bar!
West Ham really do need to look to improve their side in the summer and bring in players with experience of playing in the league! Not like the disaster of last summer which saw a number of flops join the club.
The likes of Simone Zaza, Jonathan Calleri and Gokhan Tore all came in without Premier League knowledge and all have been poor for the Hammers, reflected in the fans’ discontent.
Slaven Bilic and his recruitment team need to ensure that they are smart in the summer, then, with their additions to the club and that their arrival will only benefit the team and not discourage the players already there.
So with that in mind, Bilic and West Ham must genuinely look to seal these two strategic signings in the summer transfer window…
KIERAN TRIPPIER

It is super clear that the Irons need a starting right-back as they’ve had to use players out of position for most of the season so far.
Although Sam Byram has done a job at times for the Hammers they clearly need a first choice quality out and out right-back.
With that, though this may be a hard pull from rivals Spurs, Kieran Trippier could be the right fit for the Irons. He was superb at Burnley before making the switch to the Lane, where it’s not really worked out and with the form of Kyle Walker it’s not going to be easy to break into the team.
It would be a transfer that would be beneficial to both parties.
JERMAIN DEFOE

Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern thinks that the Hammers fans should try to get past the fact that Defoe left the club way back in 2004 for rivals Spurs and try to land the free scoring striker from Sunderland.
Which, with the prospect of the Black Cats’ relegation, that could be a tad easier for the Irons. This may not be a long term solution to their striker issues but they right now need a striker who can score plenty of goals and also remain fit enough to play every week, and even at the age he is Defoe has that in abundance for sure!
