West Ham United are preparing for their Championship campaign and will be working towards an immediate return to the Premier League.
The Hammers suffered a heartbreaking relegation from the top flight last season, but with Nuno Espirito Santo committing to the task of taking the club back to where they belong, there is hope yet in East London.
So far, West Ham are yet to make a signing, with just over a month remaining in the transfer window, but a fresh update has revealed the club’s plans ahead of the new season.
What’s the latest West Ham transfer news?
Trustworthy source ExWHUEmployee has provided renewed optimism after a quiet start to West Ham’s summer transfer window.
Reporting via The West Ham Way Patreon, ExWHUEmployee revealed:
“West Ham are exploring a few potential loan options for the left wing position.
“As we mentioned before, the club could turn to a few Premier League players who have now been told they are available. Two of them we have already covered but there is a new name to add.
“The first one is Reiss Nelson of Arsenal. We have been a long-time admirer of the player and he is said to be keen to remain in London and fancies the prospect of playing regularly for us. He would offer good natural width on the left.
“Another player who we covered in depth at the start of the window is Sunderland’s Simon Adingra. Sunderland ideally wish to sell the player and their valuation is way beyond what we would want to pay at the moment.
“However, there is again some possibility that a loan deal with an option/obligation could be agreed for the Ivory Coast international. Ironically he is a friend of Maxwell Cornet and it could be that he joins and makes Maxwell’s route to the first team tougher. Talks have also continued with his teammate Wilson Isidor as well.
“The final player we have been talking to is Manor Solomon from Spurs. The Israeli international was on loan at Italian side Fiorentina but also had a spell on loan at Leeds in the Championship, where he was a big success in helping the team secure promotion to the Premier League.
“These moves are likely to be loan deals for now and discussions will continue over the coming days to see if any of them can be advanced.
“The introduction of Ben Chorley to the recruitment team has shifted the focus towards players with domestic experience and all three of these options offer that.”
Should West Ham sign Reiss Nelson?
There is no doubt that finding a solution to their lack of goals will be crucial as West Ham embark on their Championship campaign.
While Jarrod Bowen has committed to leading the Hammers into their next challenge, the departure of Crysencio Summerville has weakened the left flank.
Having come through Arsenal’s academy, Nelson has struggled to establish himself as a regular in the Premier League due to limited game time and has spent several spells out on loan, including at Brentford last season.
Although he has never played in the Championship, the 26-year-old would likely be attracted by the prospect of regular first-team football while remaining in London, making the move one that could benefit both player and club.
A highly technical and versatile winger, Nelson would provide Nuno with pace, creativity and the ability to beat defenders in one-v-one situations.
With that being said, West Ham must make the most of the remaining weeks of the transfer window if they are to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion.
Nelson would add quality, experience and depth to the attacking threat, and a loan move could prove to be a smart piece of business as the Hammers look to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
