West Ham United and David Moyes were dealt a double blow during the Premier League fixture against Manchester City as, in the space of a minute early on in the second half, City equalised and Michail Antonio went off injured.
Antonio had given the Hammers an unlikely lead in the first half with a lovely acrobatic finish. He is a crucial asset to the squad, with two goals in his five appearances this term and eight goals in the last six Premier League games of last season (Transfermarkt).
It was a blow to see him limping off this afternoon, but many West Ham fans were also fuming with the fact that David Moyes did not bring on Sebastien Haller to replace him.
Moyes brought off the forward for winger Andriy Yarmolenko, a decision which one fan labelled as ‘ridiculous’. The move didn’t work as intended as, only 17 minutes later, Moyes brought on Haller for winger Jarrod Bowen and put the Frenchman up top.
Here is how West Ham fans reacted to Moyes’ tactical decision
Ridiculous substitution. Love Yarmo but this should be Haller 10/10 times https://t.co/PHv75cVwUi
