Dropping an official announcement, West Ham United have confirmed that promising young defender Emmanuel Longelo has signed a new deal at the London Stadium till the summer of 2023 – with many Irons supporters erupting over the ‘excellent news’.
Having already made his first team debut for the Irons under manager David Moyes, playing the last 21 minutes of their Carabao Cup third round tie against Hull City at the beginning of 2020/2021 (whufc.com), he has also displayed great promise in the academy this season.
Indeed, he has been a regular for West Ham’s Under-23s in the Premier League 2, bagging four assists in 21 appearances from the left-back position (Transfermarkt).
The 20-year-old has also played more minutes than any member of that squad (whufc.com), with Irons fans now erupting over the news that their club have tied him down until 2023.
He also has the option to extend his stay for another year, and it’s safe to say West Ham supporters have raved – with one calling the announcement ‘excellent news’.
