West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are still reflecting on what was a strange Premier League campaign for their side.

Whilst there was always going to be a bit of animosity following the switch from Upton Park to the more spacious London Stadium at the start of the season, not many punters in the Tavern expected Slaven Bilic’s men to perform so disappointingly after their wonderful season in 2015/16. Of course, the Hammers in the Tavern will point to the stadium move as the sole reason but our landlord believes that consistency is the real problem at West Ham and feels that real quality needs to be bought in if the Hammers are to make any progress.

It is no secret that the departure of main man, Dimitri Payet, did not help the Irons in their quest this season and the signing of Robert Snodgrass from Hull did not do much to fill the void left by the creative Frenchman. So, the emphasis is now surely on to sign a player or two who can really make a difference in the middle of the park to take the pressure from the current magic man, Manuel Lanzini.

This is a common view shared by the West Ham fans in the Tavern and they have outlined two midfielders that they’d like to see Bilic bring in this transfer window.

Dusan Tadic

After a pretty quiet season at St Mary’s, our landlord has suggested that a move of club for Dusan Tadic may not be the worst idea in the world and West Ham should look to be the beneficiaries of a move for the Southampton winger.

It some here in the bar think that Liverpool are also snooping around the Serbian given their history but with the relationship breaking down between them and Southampton recently following the Virgil van Dijk dispute, West Ham could move in and seal the deal.

Jacob Murphy

Our landlord has been going on all week about how any side interested in Murphy should have snapped him up before the under 21 European Championships as he believes Murphy’s value will double after the tournament that he is set to star in.

The Norwich winger had a wonderful season in the Championship for the Canaries and he is the kind of talent that West Ham need in creative areas and to get the Hammers in the Tavern off their seats whilst watching their beloved team.

Whilst there is no inkling suggesting this transfer is going to go ahead, our landlord still thinks Murphy would be the perfect fit at the London Stadium and would love to see Slaven Bilic make this a reality in the Summer transfer window.
