According to a report by Football Insider, West Ham United are now weighing up a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard after a development.

The Lowdown: Edouard back on the radar?

West Ham have been sporadically linked with the towering French forward since the turn of the year, but Leicester City then emerged as frontrunners for his signature.

The Foxes have been operating quickly so far in this summer transfer market and at one point it looked like Edouard would become another acquisition for Brendan Rodgers (Fabrizio Romano).

However, all signs now point to Leicester signing Patson Daka instead, and that has opened the door for West Ham to make a possible return for Edouard.

The Latest: West Ham weigh opportunity...

As per Football Insider, this development at Leicester has prompted the Irons to mull over whether to go back in for Edouard as their striker search continues.

Indeed, manager David Moyes reportedly has a new forward firmly on the transfer agenda for West Ham this summer and the 23-year-old may be back on his radar.

Edouard is apparently 'still expected to leave' Celtic in spite of Leicester dropping their interest and the Irons could now be provided with an opportunity to swoop.

The Verdict: Do it Moyesey...

The 1.87m (6 foot 2) Edouard would be a great signing for West Ham this summer, as highlighted by his proven goalscoring record. Having bagged 22 goals and six assists in all competitions for Celtic over 2020/21, he isn't far away from a century of goals since his move to Parkhead.

Indeed, he has managed an impressive haul of 83 strikes in four seasons at Celtic since joining from Paris-Saint Germain in the summer of 2017 (initially on loan before permanent deal a year later).

Speaking to Go Radio, via Daily Record, pundit Stephen Craigan lauded Edouard as 'phenomenal' and the 'best in Scotland' when at his prime, and we believe he could be a brilliant candidate for the centre-forward role at London Stadium.
