According to inside sources from Football Insider, West Ham United and GSB are plotting a potential January move to land Rangers defender Borna Barisic after a confirmed ‘big blow’ in the form of an injury to Arthur Masuaku.
Barisic, who has been a mainstay for the SPFL leaders this season, starting 15 matches for the Gers in all competitions, is now being eyed by the Hammers as GSB plot a potential move for the Croatian.
Who should West Ham sign to cover Masuaku?
Barisic plot revealed
The 28-year-old is being eyed by West Ham ahead of the winter window and is seen as a Masuaku replacement after the Congolese star underwent knee surgery and thus, is set to be out of action for the foreseeable future.
Described as ‘magnificent‘. Barisic has emerged as an option for the club alongside fellow targets like Oleksandr Zinchenko, with defender Aaron Cresswell currently the Irons’ only choice at left-back as it stands.
The Englishman has been slotted back into his natural position to cope with Masuaku’s injury blow, despite him arguably being utilised to better effect as a third centre-half under David Moyes.

Indeed, when Masuaku was available, Cresswell thrived as part of a back three – with this GSB plan to sign a left-back in the January window potentially coming as good news for the manager.
Barisic is now being targeted, according to sources from FI, as West Ham aim to provide cover in that area, and judging by his past plaudits, it could certainly be an ideal move for both the player and the Hammers.
£8 million or over may seal the deal, representing a potential bargain as the winter window nears.
