West Ham United fans are split over the news that Alan Oliver, of the Sunday People, has just delivered to us in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Alan believes that Hammers boss Sam Allardyce could be planning a move to bring Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton to the club.
Barton played under Allardyce at Newcastle United and according to Alan, Joey would welcome a move across London which would also see him be reunited with Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan.
Obviously, as a few of the punters pointed out, Barton comes with a bit of a bad boy reputation but on the other hand, as one customer shouted out from over by the jukebox, Barton has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in the past.
There are a few laughs at this next bit of information that Alan tells us, and that is that, despite Joey saying he’d never play in the Championship with QPR, if the West Ham move doesn’t happen then he’d happily stay at Loftus Road because he is enjoying working with Steve McClaren.
Anyway folks, that wraps up my shift at the tavern.
