West Ham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been drowning their sorrows after back-to-back Premier League defeats, and now there is more bad news courtesy of the Daily Mirror.
The Hammers have failed in their efforts to sign Alex Song on a permanent transfer, with the Cameroon international having returned to Barcelona after a season long loan at Upton Park.
Song impressed during his loan spell last season, but the Hammers have been unable to strike a deal with the Catalan giants.
Barcelona are still keen to move him on however, with the same publication reporting that Song is training alone until he finds himself a new club.
Song managed 28 games for the Hammers last season, and now it remains to be seen as to whether the club can come up with a suitable financial packaged before the close of the window in just five days time.
Our resident Hammers fans feel this is a big blow to the side, and feel Song’s combative style of play is exactly what the club needs this season!
