Loads of West Ham United supporters have agreed with their former striker Carlton Cole after comments he made about midfielder Felipe Anderson.
The 36-year-old has slammed the Brazilian, who joined the Hammers for £41.5m in 2018 (BBC Sport), insisting that he is not doing enough this season.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ The Debate programme (25th February 2020, 22:45), Cole said: “Felipe Anderson for me is a great player but he’s just not pulling his weight about, at the moment. I don’t like to batter my colleagues as footballers, but he should be doing a lot more.”
He does have a point. Last season, the 26-year-old played a starring role for the club by scoring nine goals in 36 league appearances, whilst also providing four assists (Transfermarkt). This term he has been far less productive, netting just one goal in the Premier League, although he does have four assists (Transfermarkt).
His most recent display against Liverpool sums up his season – he lost possession 17 times, won just seven of his 19 ground duels and was dribbled past on three occasions, whilst finishing with a lowly passing accuracy of just 70% (SofaScore).
It seems that plenty of West Ham supporters are in agreement with Cole, with many taking to Twitter to also suggest that Anderson hasn’t been good enough for them during the current campaign.
Here is what some had to say…
Felipe Anderson looked very uninterested and completely off the boil against Liverpool – summed up by a woeful and lacklustre first half where he was more of a hindrance going forward to the side than an asset. Needs to improve his form quickly before we end up relegated from PL.

I see alot of people giving a rating of 7 or 8 for Anderson… I totally agree with cole, he did not look bothered at all and gave the ball away along with noble for easily!

I honestly have never seen a premier league player give the ball away so much. It’s so frustrating @CarltonCole1

He hasn’t pulled his weight for a long long time … he needs to start doing it and doing it now

From the first game he played i see a player that just wanted to go one way and was not up for doing any hard work to help the team so for me he as got to be sold in the summer
