West Ham United: Fans call for Mark Noble to be dropped and stripped of captaincy

Loads of West Ham United fans have taken to social media to suggest that Mark Noble should be dropped from the team and even stripped of the club captaincy.

The 32-year-old has been at the club for the entirety of his professional career, barring a couple of brief loan spells at Hull City and Ipswich Town. He was officially named as the club’s captain back in 2015 by Slaven Bilic, succeeding Kevin Nolan who had previously worn the armband (whufc.com).

In his time with the Hammers, the midfielder has racked up a total of 492 appearances in all competitions, scoring 60 goals and providing 59 assists (Transfermarkt). He has been a regular in the team this season despite their poor form which has seen them slump into the relegation zone, starting 23 of their 26 Premier League matches (Transfermarkt).

Many supporters of the Irons haven’t been impressed with the role that Noble has played in their struggles this season, however. Plenty are now calling for him to be dropped from the team and want the captaincy to be taken off him, with some suggesting that Declan Rice should be given the armband.

Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…
