Scott Parker, Dimitri Payet and Carlos Tevez are examples from West Ham United’s past that highlight how the club has often had one player who stands out above the rest.
So most seasons, if the Hammers faithful were asked who had been the most impressive person for the club, then the decision would be pretty unanimous.
While it is still early in the campaign, that hasn’t been the case when they asked the question this time around:
down, to go…
Who’s impressed you the most during our start to the season? pic.twitter.com/O3EIrGljGM

There have been plenty of impressive performances this season already, which has led to a split in the fanbase about who has been the best, with a variety of names being thrown around.
To give an example of some of the impressive performances, Arthur Masuaku has been named the best left-back in Europe’s top five leagues this season by WhoScored, while Sebastien Haller was named the best player in the Premier League for the weekend of his two goals against Watford, by the same outlet.
There are various others in claret and blue who have done enough to earn plenty of plaudits in the early stages of the 2019/20 season, meaning they have also entered the conversation.
A variety of Twitter reaction to the question, including posts from split West Ham fans, can be seen below:
Mark Noble – no coincidence that we won the 2 league games he played in

Pellegrini, he has them playing like a solid unit. The positioning has been brilliant and players are looking to support each other rather than worry about their own statistics.

Arthur Masuaku. Has clearly worked on his defensive game and going forward he gives us an extra dimension. Instrumental in our 2 wins so far.
