Rangers are in a bit of a pickle at the moment. Ambitions of challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership crown in their first season back in the big time may have been a bit far-fetched, but being 33-points behind their rivals and in third place after 26 games has left a few blue-clad Glaswegians in the Transfer Tavern a little down in the mouth.
Mark Warburton’s exit last month was not exactly greeted with any tears, though, and there is a cautious belief among Gers supporters here that if they get their next appointment right and clear up some financial issues the club will be able kick on over the coming seasons and make serious pushes for silverware.
That makes the Express’ latest reports all the more interesting, with the outlet claiming that Rangers have a four-man shortlist of managers they want, with Leeds’ Garry Monk among the quartet.
Naturally, the Whites boss’ inclusion has generated plenty of debate, so our landlord has been on Twitter to find the good and the bad responses…
Gary Monk would be some coup for rangers. The only progressive choice on the table who comes close to Rogers imo. Doubt he’ll leave LUFC tho

I’d be happy with either Monk or Rowett, not so keen on the idea of McLeish or McInnes tho #Rangers

Garry Monk would be a great appointment like

Gary Rowett is unproven and a younger warburton. Not what we need. Monk is the only candidate which excites me.

Although loads of Rangers fans want him, many believe Monk is not a realistic option…
Gary Monk on The Rangers 4 man “shortlist”. What planet do those clowns live on exactly?
— Ryan Dorward (@RyzDufc) 28 February 2017
@Bruce_Archer89 no chance Garry monk is gonna leave leeds chance of pl next season for rangers not gonna happen

Would love to see Gary monk as gers gaffer, probably least likely of the 4

If it is down to the 4 everyone is saying then it’s bad news! We won’t get monk and the other 3 are useless!!
