It now looks likely that Arsene Wenger will get his two most sought after transfer targets, but he had to go Croatia to get them.
The hot young prospect Mateo Kovacic, who has drawn comparisons with Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi, is one of Europe’s hottest properties, playing for Dinamo Zagreb.
If Wenger can dig out somewhere between £17-20 million he will get Kovacic and his team mate, the talented young right back Sime Vrsaljko, to bolster both his attacking options and his defence. If Arsenal are to make a push for the title, is this enough to boost his young squad?
But are Wenger’s targets just too young and too raw? Bayern Munich and Spurs have also been tracking the Croatian youngsters but do Arsenal need to drastically change their transfer policy?
And do they even need an attacking midfielder and a right back? Shouldn’t a goalkeeper and a centre-back be his priority?
