Leeds United: Beren Cross’ transfer suggestions not fancied by fans

Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United fans have reacted to predictions made by reputable journalist Beren Cross regarding their squad next season should they gain promotion to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are on the cusp of gaining promotion to England’s top flight, sitting top of the Championship standings ahead of West Bromwich Albion.

The Whites have been in excellent form, for the most part, this season and are looking to gain automatic promotion after failing to gain promotion via the play-off route last term. Looking ahead to next season, Leeds United Live writer Beren Cross discussed Bielsa’s current squad, and predicted summer new summer arrivals.

A few names appeared on the list that have been in and out of the news this term so far, including Ben White, who is currently on loan from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

Southampton striker Che Adams (linked in January) was also in the squad with Cross preferring the inconsistent Premier League striker to the likes of Ollie Watkins and Karlan Grant. Perhaps one of the biggest surprises in the squad was the inclusion of Ben Davies of Preston North End, given he’s not been linked with a move.

With the 24-year-old’s inclusion, Leeds fans were prompted to react via social media platform Twitter, and below are just some of those…

Taken a look at what an ideal #lufc squad looks like if it was in the Premier League next season. Obviously you keep Harrison and White, but there’s three new faces I’d add. Ben Davies at Preston an ideal example of how they’d need to buy. #lufc https://t.co/kjHsWu6JIN

If that’s the extent of our ambition then we need to enjoy our season in the premiership

Can’t see any more than 3 new faces considering it’ll take £70m to tie down what we’ve already got.

I know that Bielsa is extremely loyal but I’d like to think we would bring in 3/4 players that really strengthen the starting team. Keeper, centre half, number 10 and a proven forward.

I want to see the damage a speedy powerful striker can do to defences and Big Kev has the potential to do that. Just hope he has made an impression on Bielsa. Bielsa was fully aware of JKA and wanted him badly, so he knows what he can do but has Kev still got it?

Ben Davies😂😂😂 exact opposite of what we’d need

— Liam Horsley (@liamhorsley18) April 4, 2020

Need a lot better than that mate! As good as Liam Cooper has been we would need a CB with PL experience in with Cooper and White! Same in midfield good experienced PL head! Strikers too.. need a lot better than Bamford and Adams

Good job you arnt doing the recruiting haha

— Micky Padge (@mickipadgett) April 4, 2020

Really can’t see us moving for Championship players if we get promoted

— Karl Cotterill (@KarlCotterill) April 4, 2020

Not interested in him at all
