Will they start? These 2 Chelsea players really aren’t guaranteed to start against Arsenal in the Community Shield

In what has been an up and down transfer window so far for Chelsea, the Blues fans in the Transfer Tavern have remained confident of their side’s chances this season.

Chelsea were pipped to the signing of Romelu Lukaku by Manchester United, but later bagged Timeoue Bakayoko ahead of Mourinho’s side.

But the Blues were also snubbed by Real Madrid defender Danilo, who opted to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

After capturing Man Utd target Alvaro Morata, now Antonio Conte’s are being linked with a big money move for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

The former Fulham star has thrived since his switch to the SPFL – Dembele scored 32 goals in his debut season for Celtic.

With that being said, competition for places at Stamford Bridge is seemingly more fierce than ever.

And that means that these TWO current Chelsea stars really aren’t guaranteed to start on the opening day…

CESAR AZPILICUETA

Formely a right-back, Azpilicueta has previously been utilised on the left and was deployed as a right-sided-centre-back for Conte.

However, the Italian has since recruited Germany international Antonio Rudiger.

And as long as Victor Moses continues to play out of his skin at right-wing-back, Azpilicueta could now find himself making up the numbers on the bench.

CESC FABREGAS

The ex-Arsenal and Barcelona star found starts hard to come by last season and Fabregas can expect this campaign to be no different.

Chelsea have already drafted in £40m man Timeoue Bakayako ahead of Nemanja Matic’s anticipated departure, while N’Golo Kante is in the form of his life.

It all means Fabregas may have to wait his turn before earning regular game time.
