Southampton fans down in the Football Transfer Tavern are more downbeat than ever ahead of the new season.
Like most summers, the rumours surrounding the club are all seemingly focused on their best players leaving.
This year it’s Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Bertrand and Cedric Soares who have all been tipped for moves away.
There appears to be no way back for Van Dijk after the news that Dutchman that Southampton have left their wantaway skipper out of their squad for the pre-season trip to France.
While Chelsea are targeting both full-backs Bertrand and Soares after failing to secure deals for Benjamin Mendy and Danilo this summer.
Southampton’s only signing in Lech Poznan defender Jan Bednarek means it’s far from exciting times on the south-coast.
With the lack of incomings, a number of Mauricio Pellegrino’s players will fancy their chances in getting in the Argentine’s first match day squad.
Yet these TWO Saints men are still not guaranteed a start against Swansea.
SHANE LONG

The Irishman is a fan favourite down on the south-coast, but Shane Long failed to deliver last season. Often restricted to coming off the bench, long netted just three times in 32 outings for Claude Puel’s side.
Whether the striker will improve this season remains to be seen, but it’s unlikely Manolo Gabbiadini or Charlie Austin will be shifted for the Ireland international.
PIERRE-EMILE HOJBERG

The centre-midfielder who joined the Saints last summer enjoyed a steady start to life in Southampton. Hojberg started 14 games, but failed to pick up a goal or assist last season.
The former Bayern Munich youngster is likely to see competition arrive before the transfer window slams shut, meaning game time could come at a premium this season.
