Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping a fresh season brings a fresh start all around Stamford Bridge, following the World Cup this summer.

Chelsea are in need of some desperate reinforcements in key areas of the pitch after two awful transfer windows and the Blues in the pub are not happy. Conte, for large parts of the season, has had to deal with a threadbare squad due to injuries and suspensions, while his team have been fatiguing in the league since January.

However, there are a couple of players that should be looking forward to the World Cup this summer in Russia, as a way to leave the Stamford Bridge exit door in order to revitalise their own careers. The regulars feel that the Blues have majorly underperformed this year, with only three wins in the league so far to their name.

That being said, our landlord takes a look at TWO players that should push through a move in the summer and look to impress during the summer football in Russia…

David Luiz

The Brazilian had earlier in the season been left out of Conte’s plans after the pair were reportedly involved in a bust-up over tactics. Ever since then, following an injury, the Brazilian defender has struggled to find a regular place in the team with young and impressive Andreas Christensen taking his chance in the team.

If Luiz wants to go to then he has to impress in possibly his last World Cup, and finally put his Chelsea years behind him. Indeed, it’d also help him get over the ghosts of 2014…

Tiemoue Bakayoko

The French defensive midfielder has featured for the majority of his first season for the Blues, however, he seems to be looking like a transfer flop at Stamford Bridge while not really impressing during his time on the pitch.

To add to his caps for France, maybe it’s time Bakayoko upped his game in the Premier League and started to show why he should be going to the World Cup. Some players can take to the Premier League and some can’t, maybe Bakayoko is the latter, although if he gets to the World Cup he should do his utmost to showcase to other teams what he can do.
