After Mick McCarthy and Wolves went there separate after 5 and a half years of dower interviews and narrow survivals, the search now begins for a man able to replace the Yorkshireman’s unique brand of Charisma.
The two current front runners for the post appeared to be Alan Curbishley and Steve Bruce. But Bruce has apparently turned down the job as he was only offered a deal that lasted until the end of the season. Quite who in their right mind would sign that contract, I do not know.
So lets consider the runners and riders for the lastest vacancy to hit the window of the Premiership’s job centre.
Alan Curbishley: Curbishley appears to be the current front runner. Wolves Chairman Steve Morgan is quoted, in the Daily Express, as saying of the former Charlton and West Ham manager “He’s got a great track record, he’s been there and done it before, and he’s exactly the calibre of person that we’re looking for.”
What may work against Curbishley is of the three main candidates he has spent the longest amount of time out of football, having resigned as West Ham manager in September 2008.
If you want my opinion I’d get down the bookies and put some money on Curbishley if the price hasn’t crashed through the floor already.
