Plenty of Wolves fans believe that Rui Patricio has a claim to be the club’s best ever keeper despite spending just two seasons at Molineux.
The Portugal number one joined Wolves in the summer of 2018 after terminating his contract with Sporting Lisbon following an attack on their training ground by hooligan supporters as reported by BBC Sport. The West Midlands club eventually had to pay the £18m in compensation to the Liga NOS side for the signing of Patricio (per BBC Sport).
Yet that £18m now looks like a bargain for Wolves, with the 31-year-old goalkeeper staking a claim to be one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League over the past two seasons, with Patricio this season making more saves than the likes of David de Gea and Dean Henderson, as well as keeping the number of clean sheets as Bernd Leno (per the Premier League’s official website).
Is Rui Patricio Wolves' greatest ever goalkeeper?
Yes
No
And many Wolves fans on social media believe that Patricio could be the best ‘keeper to ever represent the club despite his short but meaningful impact with the side.
Here’s what lots of Wolves supporters had to say on Twitter about Patricio…
Rui P is the best and ive been watching wolves for 4 decades

Patricio & Murray are the two clear standouts.@rpatricio1_’s performance at Norwich this season was very similar to @MattMurray20’s at Reading in the playoffs semi, both days where the keepers won the games for #wwfc.
Two of the best GK performances I’ve ever seen for #wwfc.
