Wolves’ 1-0 defeat to Manchester United will have been bitterly disappointing for fans hoping for a domestic cup run this season. They were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Aston Villa 2-1 in the round of 16, and fans weren’t pleased with Nuno Espirito Santo’s comments after this cup exit three months later.
He said: “I’m disappointed to go out because it’s frustrating knowing we did well, we performed well, and we don’t go to the next one. I’m happy with the boys, happy with the support.” However, according to the BBC, Wolves only managed two shots on target all game compared to United’s six.
When the club posted the quotes on their official Twitter account, fans took exception to the praise he gave his team. Many clearly felt his side didn’t deserve it, and some of them replied to show how much they disagreed with their manager.
