Wolves: Fans discuss whether Joao Moutinho is club’s greatest ever player

Many Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have discussed whether or not Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho is their greatest ever player.

The 33-year-old extended his contract at Molineux over the weekend to 2022, meaning that he will be 35 when his deal expires in the West Midlands.

The central midfielder managed to cap off his new contract by scoring a belter of a free-kick to give Wolves all three points away from home at Bournemouth.

The Wanderers have been on a sharp upward curve in recent weeks, and despite their additional matches in the Europa League, have now leapfrogged themselves up to fifth in the division.

Moutinho’s magic, tied in with his new deal, has got fans asking some serious questions about the current Euro and Nations League champion. Fan account @talkingwolves tweeted after the game asking whether he was the club’s greatest ever player.

Many thought this was a step too far, referencing former greats such as Billy Wright and Steve Bull.
