Wolves are the latest English club to be linked with young Portuguese star Gedson Fernandes, according to Record via Sport Witness.
Fernandes is a player in demand, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham also interested in his signature.
The 21-year-old has made 13 appearances for Benfica so far this season, and is versatile enough to play in a range of positions across the midfield. According to Transfermarkt, he was made 38 of his 96 career appearances in engine room roles aside from his more natural central berth.
The report claims that Benfica want €40 million for the youngster, who has earned two senior caps for Portugal.
Wolves already have a strong contingent of Portuguese players, with the likes of Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Diogo Jota and Ruben Vinagre all currently playing under manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Their association with super-agent Jorge Mendes may give them an advantage in the pursuit of the youngster’s signature with Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones suggesting Mendes was working alongside his compatriot and that a Premier League move could be likely.
The latest update on Fernandes has excited many Wolves fans, here’s how some of them reacted to the news:

Nuno vs Moyes #nocontest Unfortunately it will simply be a case of #wwfc not being able to compete with wages— Adey & Paula (@PaulaAdey) January 9, 2020
