Newly-appointed West Bromwich Albion manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that his first love in football was Wolves.
Allardyce lifts the lid
The former England manager, who sacked from the national team in disgrace after managing just one game, has recently taken the reigns from Slaven Bilic at the Hawthorns, who was sacked after his side’s 1-1 draw away to Manchester City.
Allardyce has managed a number of Premier League clubs over the years, most notably his successful spell at Bolton Wanderers. But was hugely unpopular during his six-month spell at Everton during the 2017/18 campaign (via the Telegraph).
Speaking before his first game in charge against Aston Villa on Sunday, Allardyce made an unexpected admission about his new club’s local rivals.

When asked by a journalist whether he supported Wolves a boy (via Football Daily), he said: “Yes, there’s an element of that at my age. I got to go to Wolves, my brother used to take me there.”
Transfer Tavern Verdict
It’s an interesting revelation which has been reconfirmed by the man himself. Over the years, he has made no indication, when coming up against the West Midlands outfit, that there is any affection towards them.
That being said, it won’t really have much effect on the 2020/21 campaign itself, with Allardyce’s new team struggling towards the bottom of the Premier League table.
With Nuno Espirito Santo’s side set to take on the Baggies on January 16th, it will be an interesting clash nonetheless – let’s hope fans are in the stands for that one.
