Yaya Toure could be a statement signing from Wolves

Wolves moved just one point behind Manchester United in the Premier League table following a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were ahead after just 12 minutes when Raul Jimenez turned home a deflected effort from Diogo Jota – his fifth Premier League goal of the season and the only attempt on target during the first-half. The Cherries came close to find an equaliser but were punished on the counter-attack with Ivan Cavaleiro scoring in injury time to secure all three points. The result moves Wolves above Bournemouth into seventh, just one point behind Manchester United in the standings.

Wolves’ brilliant start to life in the Premier League will have fans dreaming of Europe in the New Year, and Nuno will have the opportunity to add to his squad when the transfer window reopens in just a few weeks. According to reports, the Portuguese tactician will target a new centre midfielder to add some competition to Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves.

One man he should consider signing is Manchester City legend – Yaya Toure. Valued at just £900k by Transfermarkt, the Ivorian finally left the club in the summer following the expiration of his contract. Toure was linked with many clubs in the Premier League but eventually chose to move to Greece and signed with Olympiacos. However, the switch did not work out with both parties agreeing to cut short his stay in the country after just three months.

His best days may be behind him, but Toure could still have something to offer the Midlands club. Winning three Premier League trophies and one Champions League crown, his vast experience could prove vital to the Championship winners as they look to secure a place in Europe. The 35-year-old is one of the finest midfielders in the history of the Premier League and could prove to be a useful rotation option for the remainder of the campaign.

Available for free, this move should be a no-brainer.
