Wolves: Luke Hatfield endorses potential Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain move -Wolves Transfer Rumours

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could prove to be a worthy transfer target for Wolves, according to journalist Luke Hatfield.

The Lowdown: Wolves linked with Oxlade-Chamberlain

Wanderers were linked with a move for the 28-year-old last year but the transfer never materialised, with the midfielder staying put at Anfield. However, the Old Gold’s links with the England international have resurfaced in recent weeks.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has continued to be little more than a squad player under Jurgen Klopp, making just five Premier League starts this season despite his manager calling him ‘outstanding’ in the past.

It could be that the 28-year-old eyes up a move away from Liverpool soon in order to be an undisputed key player elsewhere.

The Latest: Hatfield talks up Oxlade-Chamberlain move

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Hatfield claimed that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a strong potential addition at Wolves, with the midfielder possibly coming in as part of a deal which sees reported Reds target Adama Traore going the other way

The journalist claimed: “Oxlade-Chamberlain is another one who could play in that midfield. He’s really versatile. He can play in wide positions as well, so he could fill in.”

The Verdict: Potential excellent buy

Oxlade-Chamberlain is an excellent footballer who has forged an impressive career, overcoming a serious knee injury to continue making his mark at Liverpool, with whom he won the Premier League in 2020.

However, it may be the case that Klopp sees no future for him at Anfield beyond the summer – his contract expires in 2023, and Wolves would be wise to make a move for him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could provide a goal threat that the likes of Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves don’t – he has scored 15 times in 125 Reds appearances, compared to three in 157 games and 21 in 194 matches respectively for Wolves’ Portuguese midfield duo –  and his versatility means that he could also thrive in wide areas.

Therefore, it’s not hard to see why Hatfield has been talking him up as someone who is worth pursuing for the Old Gold.

In other news, Wolves are still thought to be interested in signing one European player. Find out who it is here.
